 Jane Souders Bugg was born in Hancock, Maryland on July 17, 1933 – her father’s twenty-eighth birthday present. The family later moved to Frostburg, Maryland where Jane attended Hill Street School and graduated from Beall High School in 1951. After earning her B.S. Degree in Elementary Education at Frostburg State Teachers’ College (now Frostburg State University) in 1955, Jane moved to Prince George’s County and taught third grade at Riverdale Elementary School. A fellow teacher introduced her to Bill Bugg and they were married in November of 1957. As the five Bugg children came along, Jane became a stay-at-home mom, taught piano lessons in her home, and wrote poems. Nowadays, Jane and Bill Bugg are staying young with their thirteen grandchildren. The oldest is twenty-one and the youngest is two.
