Moments Falling Open
Poetry
by the Write Group
I founded The Write
Group as a supportive community whose members actively pursue poetry,
network and seek to hone their writing skills. We have explored the
“specular” poem inspired by the British poet, Julia Copus. This form
forces the poet to consider word order on an additional level and
challenges the concept of linear thought. Selected interpretations of
this new poetic form, in which the second stanza is an inverted
repetition of the first, are included in this anthology. Moments
Falling Open is the culmination of The Write Group’s efforts. I hope
it will invite readers to pursue the promise of poetry through its
reading and stimulate interest in poetry as a genre. It is my goal that
readers will be encouraged by the efforts of The Write Group to value
poetry as both artistic expression, and a means of bringing people
together in community.
