J. Duncan Pitney sketched and painted for most of his life. He was
best known for his oil paintings of the sea, clouds and other natural
subjects. The evolution of his work is traced in this book, a definitive
work containing large-format photos of nearly 70 of his paintings. A
brief description of each of his 244 photographed paintings is also
included. The complete photo catalog can be consulted at the Marquand
Library of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University in Pitney’s home
state, New Jersey.
About the Author --
Trygve B. Sletteland
attended Northwestern University and worked as an archaeologist and
environmentalist. Now retired, he lives with his wife in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil and Laguna Beach, California.
