We are
book manufacturing professionals who care about the quality of your
books, and the ease with which you can work with us. We have
extensive experience and an open attitude towards the kinds of files
we can work with. We are accomplished with book layout and
typesetting, as well as with smooth processing of print-ready PDF
files.
We accept
almost any kind of files you would want to use: PDF,
Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress, Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop,
Freehand, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Microsoft Power
Point, etc., on PC and Mac. If your favorite isn't listed, please
ask.
The binding styles
we offer include
- Perfect binding (soft cover, flexible
adhesive)
- Case binding (hard cover), Smythe
sewn or notch adhesive, depending on the
quantity and other factors
- Plasticoil binding (an
attractive alternative to plastic comb) or wire-o, or even
plastic comb binding
- Saddle stitch and fold
(magazine or booklet style)
- loose leaf or 3-hole drilled for a notebook
- Mixed, with some books perfect
bound and some books case bound
Our cover finishes
include
- gloss film laminate -- we only use
layflat laminate, the best quality
- matte film laminate -- we only use
layflat laminate, the best quality
- aqueous coating, gloss or matte
finish
- varnish
- UV Coating.
We recommend the film laminate because it adds
significantly to the appearance and durability of your
book. Roughly handled aqueous coated or varnished covers will show wear.
Covers
can be as simple as a single color with line copy, or as
fancy as you can imagine. A gloss laminated four color
process cover will attract attention on any bookstore
shelf. Our house stock cover paper is 10 point coated 1 side (10 pt
C1S) or 12 point coated 1 side (12 pt C1S). We can supply any cover stock you like.
For covers, we can begin with
- your design in electronic form on a disc
- camera ready copy that can be scanned in, or
- your ideas for a design to be executed by
our graphic artists.
The Text
of your book or booklet can be printed in black ink or a color, two
or more colors, or four color process on a wide range of papers. Our house stock
uncoated papers are 50# and 60# white offset. We can supply
a wide range of papers, including opaque, gloss or matte coated, and heavier or lighter
papers.
For text, we can begin with
- your copy in electronic form on a disc.
- camera ready paper copy
- We can handle formatting and output from
a word processor file, or typesetting from your
manuscript
- an existing book that you want to
reprint
